About Refugee Tents and Refugee Shelters
It seems that no matter where we look in this modern world, we can see Refugee Tents and Refugee Shelters. Not only in conflict zones, very sensitive areas or where the living conditions do not allow human beings to survive properly, but also in neighboring countries where war or natural disasters heve resulted in large populations spilling over their borders . Today, there are an estimated 42 million people uprooted by war alone (see map below). In certain refugee zones, thousand of families are cramped together and have almost nothing to aid their survival apart from the emergency services provided by their Government, the United Nations, NGOs or private donors. As a result, refugee camps have to be set up very quickly in order to avoid a disasterous situation. Hence the demand for Refugee Tents and Refugee Shelters of very basic structure designed to be quickly manufactured and easily assembled. Simply put, Refugee Tents and Refugee Shelters are made out of a waterproof and protective Fabric which erected and strengthened by means of metallic ribbing. These Refugee Tents and Refugee Shelters are equipped with doors, windows, ventilation openings and normally can shelter 10 to 20 people. Temporary Refugee Tents and Refugee Shelters are usually designed to resist any climate (desert, humid or cold) and manufactured to be highly robust and last at least a year, They are mainly used for sudden emergencies such as religious or political conflicts, or natural disasters like earthquakes, floods, epidemics…etc. For more permanent solutions, instead of Refugee Tents, properly built houses and settlements will be constructed. Permanent houses are more sophisticated and allow for the possibility of installing electricity and running water. However the cost of this kind of construction can be estimated to be more than ten times higher than Refugee Tents and Refugee Shelters. Today, with millions of people uprooted every year, Refugee Tents and Refugee Shelters are still the standard response from all humanitarian organizations to any kind of crisis or emergency situation when urgent shelter is required.
